Per Order or Per Pen? Reading a UK Delivery Charge on a Bundle
A delivery line can be one fee for the parcel or one per item. Learn to read the basis, keep it separate from timing, and note it properly before you compare quotes.

A delivery line on a basket looks simple, but on a two-pen order it can be read two ways. Either you pay once for the parcel, or the charge grows with every item. Which applies changes your total, and it is easy to assume the wrong one when you are lining up quotes.
This article is about the bundle delivery charge in the UK: how to read it, how to keep it apart from dispatch timing and product price, and what to write down. For the current figure and how it is applied, go to CLOVA's delivery information on the day you buy rather than relying on a number copied into an old email.
Why the basis matters more than the figure
The STRENGTH bundle arrives as two separate pens. Suppose a delivery charge is X. If X applies per order, getting both pens to you costs X. If X applies per item, the same bundle costs 2X. Same pens, different total.
So when you note a charge, copy the basis with it: "X per order" or "X per item", never just "X". The shipping page tells you which one applies. If you only record the amount, a colleague will have to guess.
A product price and a delivery charge are also separate lines. A reduction on the products does not automatically touch the delivery line, so read the shipping page and check the basket total before you pay.
Charge, dispatch and arrival are three separate facts
It is tempting to treat "delivery sorted" as one tick. It is really three questions:
- Charge: what you pay for delivery, and on what basis.
- Dispatch: orders paid before 1pm UK time, Monday to Friday, are dispatched the same working day.
- Arrival: parcels go by tracked delivery, but the date it reaches you depends on the carrier and is not set by what you paid.
Paying a charge does not buy a particular arrival date. Keep that in mind when a project plan says "delivery paid, arrives Thursday". A better note says "dispatch expected same day if paid before 1pm; arrival to be confirmed by tracking".
Questions to settle before you pay
Run through these on the checkout page and the shipping page together:
- Is the charge per order or per item?
- Does it change if I add a second pen or product?
- Does any offer on the products affect the delivery line, or only the products?
- Will payment be completed before 1pm UK time on a working day?
- Is the parcel tracked, and does the tracking go to someone who will see it?
- Who will be there to receive it? Products ship cold, so someone needs to be ready to store them at 2 to 8°C, away from light and without freezing. The storage guide has the detail.
If any answer is "not sure", that is the question to put to CLOVA before the order, not after.
Keep the charge out of your cost-per-pen sums
When you compare the STRENGTH bundle with ordering its two pens separately, count delivery on the right basis. If the charge is per order, one checkout means one charge. Two separate checkouts are two separate orders, so check whether each carries its own charge before you decide the second route is cheaper.
The same care applies when you compare suppliers. Put delivery in its own column and note the basis beside it. A low product price with a per-item delivery charge can end up very close to a higher price with a single per-order charge, and you will only see that if the two are kept apart.
Write the planning note
A useful note is short and dated. It states the candidate, the figure and its basis, where you read it and when, and any logistics question still open. For example: "STRENGTH bundle, two pens, one order. Delivery charge as shown on the shipping page on the date of writing, basis noted per order. Arrival date unconfirmed. Receiving contact to be named."
Keep the note to figures, sources and dates. CLOVA lists its range for laboratory research use only, and a delivery note has no need to say anything more about the materials. Anyone who picks it up should be able to tell what was read, from where, and what is still unknown.
Frequently asked questions
Does a bundle offer reduce the delivery charge?
Do not assume it does. An offer applies to the products, and the delivery line is shown separately. Read the shipping page for how the charge is applied and confirm the basket total before you pay.
Is the estimated arrival date guaranteed?
No. Orders paid before 1pm UK time on a working day are dispatched the same day, and delivery is tracked, but arrival depends on the carrier. Build some slack into your schedule and use the tracking to see where the parcel is.
What if the parcel is late or something looks wrong on arrival?
Check the tracking first, then contact CLOVA with your order number. The returns and refunds page explains how problems with an order are handled, so read it before you open or store anything you are unsure about.
